About this facility
What is worth knowing
THE POST-OPERATIVE PROTOCOL, STEP BY STEP
Rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction (and after PCL, MCL and LCL) runs in stages — from recovering full extension and flexion of the knee, through rebuilding the quadriceps and hamstrings, to proprioception and joint-stability training. Each stage has clear criteria before the next one begins.
WHO PROVIDES POST-OPERATIVE THERAPY
Each within their own registered physiotherapy practice: Kamil Piotrowski specialises in knee ligament reconstruction (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL), post-operative therapy and knee and hip replacement. Sebastian Oleszko provides post-operative therapy and rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, combining it with strength and conditioning work.
THE RETURN-TO-SPORT TEST AFTER SURGERY
Before we clear you to play, we check the strength, stability and movement control of the operated limb with functional tests — only then can we be sure the knee will take the loads typical of squash, volleyball or running. The next step is returning to sport after injury and building training intensity back up.
Frequently asked questions
- How soon after ACL surgery can rehabilitation start?
- We set the first appointment in line with the operating surgeon's instructions — rehabilitation usually begins within the first days after surgery.
- Do you work with ligaments other than the ACL?
- Yes — we provide rehabilitation after ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL reconstruction, and after knee and hip replacement.
- What does the post-operative protocol look like?
- In stages: from recovering full range of motion, through rebuilding the quadriceps and hamstrings, to proprioception and stability training.
- How do I know I can return to sport?
- Only a functional test — of strength, stability and movement control in the operated limb — gives the green light to return to play.
- Who provides post-operative therapy?
- Kamil Piotrowski and Sebastian Oleszko, each under their own registered physiotherapy practice — both specialise in knee ligament reconstruction and post-operative therapy.
